June Somethings

instagram @lyndseroo

from this past month, here is something I...

~~~~~~~~~~
...loved:
There were so many things to love in June.  I saw my brother and Sandra and my dad down in Missouri for a really fun weekend (filled with movies, games, 3M tours and free stuff, caves and lots and lots of food).  I turned 29.  Malachi took me to see Blue Man Group.  We took the big leap of deciding to move to Lincoln in the fall.  And the weather has been simply amazing!  Yes, June was a good month.
...listened to:
Love it.  I wonder what LMFAO thinks?
...watched:
I'm not proud of this.  And I didn't really care for the movie.  However, before the movie started there was a trailer for another movie that was rated PG-13 and it was about this demon possessed child.  I had to close my eyes through pretty much the whole preview.  It was freaky-deaky.  After it was over, my dad leaned over and said "That should have been rated PG-89!"  I started laughing so hard.  Oh man, that was so funny.  And true.  Thankfully Prometheus was not nearly as creepy or scary or awful.
I think I finished this in June.  It might have been May, I can't remember.  It was a fun read.  I'm not a frequent reader of mysteries, so it was nice change from what I would typically read.  But since it was a book club book, I'm not really going to go into detail, because I already have in my book club, sorry!
...learned:
I am old.  No, not because I had a birthday and all that.  Just hear me out.
So here I am, sitting in a group of  about 10 people at work.  We just finished one meeting, and we are waiting for our supervisor to arrive so we can start our next meeting.  The conversation went many directions, and one of those directions landed on sex change operations.  I will spare you the details, but at one point, a coworker stated that you can't just cut a certain something off (I changed a lot of words there for all of your sake).  And I replied that Lorena Bobbitt would disagree.  People laughed and chuckled and one of my co-workers who is about the same age as me stated that my reference was a blast from the past, and that there would be a time when people won't know what that is in reference to.  That's when I looked at our 3 interns.  They were quietly discussing something with each other.  I asked them if they knew what we were talking about and the spokesman of the group replied,
"Like a Bop-It?".
So yes, I am old.  That is the first time I have made an out-of-date reference that the young-ins don't know about.  Pretty soon, no one will know what it means when you say, "Be Kind, Rewind."
May Somethings
instagram @lyndseroo
from this past month, here is something I...
My dad was able to come home twice this month. The picture above is actually from when he was in Oklahoma during May for my cousins college graduation.  I realize now that I didn't take any pictures of my dad while he was here other than the one up in the instagrams.  Next time dad comes home is in July, but I will get to go down to Missouri this month for Father's Day, so that will be fun!
This is depressing and funny at the same time.
(And a whole lotta marvel movies in order to be prepared for The Avengers)
I've started this book.  And really, I've just barely started it.  But I like it a lot.  So many great tips.  I'm excited to continue working my way through it.  It has tips on budgeting, how to write a good cover letter and resume, how to have a decent blog (obviously I haven't read that part yet, haha) and so much more.  There are more Organize Now! books by this lady, and I might be purchasing more of them in the future.
...learned:
I've been thinking a lot lately about this quote.  I find it inspiring in a way.  Not in a way that I feel like I should go out and start doing crazy things.  But more-so in the way that when I am faced with some bigger decisions (which this month has been more than generous in providing me with), I can find a bit of peace.  Peace in knowing that risks taken, decisions made, life changes...they are healthy things to do every so often.  I need these tough and somewhat scary obstacles in order to become a better me and hopefully to get a little closer to where God is leading me.
Daily Pictures
I have 2 weeks worth here.  I missed last week simply due to life being a tad crazy with Malachi and I moving and my dad moving and house showings and townhome showings and I could go on, but you get the idea I'm sure!
Coldstone Frozen Yogurt. Don't mind if I do
Moving out.
Sunrise.
Flowers budding
Eating lunch in the hospital cafeteria.  (all alone because I have lunch at 2:00 on Thursdays)
More signs of early spring.
Too cute for words.
Daddio and Toby
Trying to keep the dogs out of the house during a showing.
Bath time!
A blue bird at the park.
Dylan stole every single one of the the bones from the other dogs.  That's my boy.
This is how Toby likes to sit/lay on me.
 He just hangs out there.  He's like a living scarf.
I'm a little late this week, but this weekend was a tad crazy, so the blog took a back seat.
daily
There is a bird in this photo
My dad and I have had more ice cream this month than ever before in our lives.
It's been a wet week.
And a snowy week.
20 plastic bins delivered to our front door.
Dylan couldn't stand the thought of not being in one of my daily photos for this week.
This is where I have to walk to get the mail, because our sidewalk is a lake right now.
Malachi's 29 :)
We went out to Pazza Luna for dinner.  And I ate a lot.
We went to A Prairie Home Companion
When we were walking to our car, we passed by the Church of Scientology.  The creepiest part were the V for Vendetta masked anti-scientology picketers.
February Somethings
from this past month, here is something I:
loved:
Jeremy and Sandra coming for the weekend!  (And the fact that Jeremy actually let me take a picture of them!)
listened to:
Bill O'Reilly podcast.  It's only a couple of minutes, just the Talking Points from the daily episodes.  But it keeps me up to date with Bill's views on what's going on in the world.
watched:
Prairie Home Companion.  I surprised Malachi for his birthday with tickets to the show.  It's a weird crowd there though.  Old Lutheran's and young hipsters unite in the Fitzgerald theater.  Our seats had been stolen, the guy behind me was rude and obnoxious, and the couple in front of us might as well have just been sitting on top of each other (PDA).  But other than all of that, the show itself was great!  So much talent, and Garrison Keillor is more entertaining in person than just listening to on the radio.  We sat right in front of where the two people who do the different voices and sound effects were, and that was pretty cool to watch as well.
read:
Blink, by Malcolm Gladwell.  A fascinating read on how the brain works and reacts.  It's written very well and is a quick and never-boring read.  I recommend!
learned:
We all have gifts from God.  And these gifts are given to us to share with others.  Sometimes I feel like I don't know what my gift is.  But I do know that to recognize my gift, and to know when and where to use it, I must spend time in prayer and reading scripture.  That is how God will tell us how to share our gifts.  Got it?  It's so easy.  So let's do this!
