I'm older than the internet

It's my 29th birthday today.  Isn't that crazy?!  No?  Well, it sure is crazy to me.  It's the age that my mom would tell people she was for about 15 years or so.  And now that's where I am in life!
I wrote and erased a long schpeel on my feelings about getting older, but the short of it is this: I love my past, but am more excited about where I am going.  Let's do this 29-year-old-me!

Things I want to do while I'm 29?

//\\// be crafty \\//\\
//\\// have a great time with friends \\//\\
//\\// dedicate lots of time to family \\//\\
//\\// take lots of pictures \\//\\
//\\// be a fantastic wife-daughter-friend-sister-employee-PT-christian-example \\//\\

Interesting things about the best (I may be biased) birthday month...

//\\ there's father’s day, and sometimes I share my birthday with this holiday //\\
//\\ the birthstone is the pearl, more specifically the moonstone pearl //\\
//\\ june flowers are the honeysuckle and the rose //\\
//\\ the 20th is the summer solstice, the happiest day, American Eagle day and World Refugee day //\\
//\\ I share my birthday with John Goodman, Lionel Richie, Nicole Kidman and of course, Prince Moulay Rachid of Morocco //\\

Moving

As I've mentioned, we are moving!
We don't really know yet where we are going to end up, but in the mean time we are heading for my parent's basement.  We will be out of our current home by the end of April (maybe sooner).
This has caused me to stop a resolution that I had made, which is reading this book:

Why?  Well, because I can't very well organize rooms that are half packed away.  So I have read the first chapter (The Kitchen) and the 8th chapter (on organized moving).  I'll start reading it again when we stop being drifters.

Otherwise, I have been looking for websites to help the packing and moving go as smoothly as possible.
(You could also say that I have been procrastinating on actually packing by searching the internet).

  • Packing boxes, originally I wanted to buy more tubs to pack things in, since our stuff will be in a storage unit for who-knows-how-long.  But the tubs went up in price from $3 to $9!!  Crazy Menard's!  Lower them prices back down!!  Or at least tell me when you have a 60% off sale :)
  • Checklists : :  1 / 2 / 3 / 4
  • Martha Stewart has 10 helpful printouts

If any of you are moving, or planning a move, hopefully those links help you too!

Resolutions

It's that time of year!
Time for New Years Resolutions!
I have 2.

January 1st - The first snow fall of the new year.

First, I'm going to try to take a daily picture again.  This is such a difficult project.  It takes so much dedication.  But when I did it a couple of years ago, it really helped me creatively.  And in several other ways as well, come to think of it.  So I'm back to the challenge.  I made it to July last time.  Hopefully I do better this year!  You would think if I can make it through January, when I never see sunlight, it would be a breeze the rest of the year!  And this time, I'm really hoping that I don't take stupid pictures, just to get one in for the day.  I hope that I rise to the challenge!  Yikes, now I'm nervous, haha.
----------
And second, I'm going to work my way through this book:

It's nice, because you don't have to do it in order.  So I'm going to do the first chapter in January, just to get into the flow of things.  But then I'll be skipping to August where it talks about moving.  Because if all goes well, we will be doing that in April!

----------

So those are my two true resolutions.  There are a lot of things that I do hope to do this year.  I won't list them, but I am forever working on my spiritual life, my health, organization in finance and life, and my relationships.  And I have a HUGE to-do list for January and February already!

Well, let's get started!!

New Year, New Blog

I was really hesitant about switching blog sites at first.  My options were:

a) exactly what you're looking at, a new blogspot blog
b) switching to a different blog provider (I started to, but it depressed me)
c) actually paying for increased space on my last blog (ya, right)
d) uploading pictures to a totally separate site and then linking (how obnoxious!)
e) quit blogging (I know, I know, crazy talk)

but once I got this puppy up and looking a little bit more like home, I actually started getting excited about it!  A new blog, for the new year.  So it is only right that my first post will be about my resolutions!

-----

This year I'm doing it a little different.  I was inspired to make a weekly checklist this year, instead of a list in january that I look at the following december, only to be reminded of my failures.  Plus we all know, checking things off a list is satisfying.  It's immediate feedback, which I'm hoping will make me a little more diligent.
As for the actual resolutions, they are things that I (mostly) already do.  This checklist is just an effort to make me do the items as much as I should.  Have I lost you yet?  Well, how about I show you a picture of my checklist?

So there you have it,  2011 here I come.  And hey, even if I fail at these resolutions.  At least I started the year off more organized than any previous year!

Thank-you so very much for following me to my new site!
