What did I find in my stocking this year?

A bed!

I'm so in love with our new bed frame.  We have been needing one of these, and it's just not one of those things that I ever end up buying for us.  So my parents and I went halfsies and we now have a super cool sleigh bed!  And pretty much immediately I walked right into it and got my biggest bruise of the year on my thigh.  But totally worth it.

Did I just hear angels sing?  Because all is right in the world.  I now own a popcorn air popper!!!

I got boots!  I've been wanting these bad boys for about 2 years now.  Soooo excited!

A new spyder hat.  Okay, Malachi, I'm read to hit the hills!

And I got a new red coat!  It's so pretty.

And really, I got so much more as well.  I really am blessed.  I have such a wonderful family.  And being able to spend time with all of them was the most fun (mostly because I beat them at Settlers of Catan).

"She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from all their sins."

Well hello there, December!

You know, I just love "the holidays".  Those three holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years) are so darn sneaky every year.  They always fool me into not even minding the impending doom of cold and dark days.  They are SO sneaky, that they even trick me into looking forward to snow!!  And then they desert me right when we begin the worst part of winter.  January.  And you know what?  I know that, but I still look forward to it.  I still get excited and let the Christmas spirit overcome me.  Because really, it's the most magical time of the year!

So anyways, I'm writing today to share one of the many things I love about Christmas.  And that is the Christmas music!  I don't let myself listen to Christmas tunes until Thanksgiving every year, because I'm strict like that.  But as soon as the last Thursday of November presents itself, I switch my car radio to the 24/7 Christmas station and I re-activate all of my sleeper Christmas songs on itunes.  And without fail, I always look at my Christmas song library and thing "I sure could use some more Christmas music!".  So then I click my way into the itunes store and spend too much money on something I don't really need, but definitely want.

This year I purchased 3 CDs.
  • A Very She & Him Christmas
  • Michael Buble - Christmas
  • Martina McBride - White Christmas (I used to have this CD, but somewhere over the years I lost it)
I have to say, I'm happy with all 3 of those purchases.  I love them all!

Hope you all are having a great start to December!

Happy Sabbath

I have so many blessings in my life.  God has given me a perfect family and amazing friends, what more do I need?  But even still, I am blessed with a job, a warm home, cute little puppies, good food whenever I want it, and that's just the beginning of so many things to be thankful for.  How did I get so lucky?
Well, thanks truly be to God.  He is good and He is holy and He always listens to and answers prayers in the most amazing ways.

I hope you all had a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving!

I'm seriously considering this.  Especially because I'm  somewhat considering this:

And it would help me to mark off something from the list!

Christmas 2010

This Christmas we started out, on Christmas eve, with my parents and brother.  Christmas day we headed out to Malachi's parents house (for some food, gifts and games), and then on Sunday we went with my parents and brother to see Tron in 3D at the Imax, and then came home and Malachi and I had our own Christmas.  It was pretty busy, and a really great Christmas.

My family has never been into the Christmas cookie tradition, in fact, we never really even knew about the hype until recently.  So I decided to bake some cookies.  I made my favorites (which are always a hit with my family) and I tried out a new recipe, Pecan Pie Cookies:

They were...mediocre.  I prefer pecan pie, but I just have a hard time eating pecan pie because I know what the ingredients are...and holy cow that's alot of corn syrup!

Here's Malachi, all excited for Santa to show up.

And my brother...

Here I am opening our new Kitchen Aid Mixer!!!!!

Dylan getting more and more excited about his stocking.

The three musketeers.

I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas!
