30 Spring Essentials

I found a spring checklist on a fashion blog and I was wondering how I did.  Too late to be helpful, but I still thought I'd score myself.

x  Spring loafers - I'm counting my boat shoes
__ Printed wide leg pant - I'm still not loving wide legs, and not brave enough for printed pants
x  Oversized blazer - I'm counting my 3 proper fitting blazers
     Long Pendant necklace
 x  The Midi dress
x  Pleated Maxi skirt - my midi dress is pleated, does that count?
 x  Pointy pumps
     washed out cropped jean
     denim jacket
 x  strings of beads necklaces
 x  trench coat
 x  printed clutch
__ white sneakers
 x  springtime scarves
 x  lightweight topcoat
 x  button down denim shirt
__ eyelet tea dress
__ printed one-piece bathing suit
__ boxy shoulder bag
__ opened toe bootie
 x  sweater jacket
x  floral blouse - I'm counting my swan printed blouse and my floral 3/4 sleeved top
     cocktail ring
     daytime bustier
__ school girl dress
     wedged sandles
 x  striped t-shirt
     nude colored leather jacket
__ heavy chain necklace
 x  perfect white tank

15 out of 30.  50% ain't bad if I do say so myself!

So, I wasted a lot of time one weekend looking at this one blog.  It's called Suri's Burn Book.  And I find it hilarious.
It's someone pretending to be Suri Cruise, writing about how embarrassing Tom and Katie are as parents, what celebrity children might be threatening her throne (she's very terrified of Prince William and Kate having a baby), and how disgusted she is with almost everyone's style.  Here is a screen shot of one blog post:

And here is another:

Now, I do not endorse picking on children, or the harassment of celebrity children.  And I personally find nothing wrong with Apple Paltrow's outfit.  I am all for kids wearing whatever pleases them (as long as it's decent).  But... funny is funny.

Moving

As I've mentioned, we are moving!
We don't really know yet where we are going to end up, but in the mean time we are heading for my parent's basement.  We will be out of our current home by the end of April (maybe sooner).
This has caused me to stop a resolution that I had made, which is reading this book:

Why?  Well, because I can't very well organize rooms that are half packed away.  So I have read the first chapter (The Kitchen) and the 8th chapter (on organized moving).  I'll start reading it again when we stop being drifters.

Otherwise, I have been looking for websites to help the packing and moving go as smoothly as possible.
(You could also say that I have been procrastinating on actually packing by searching the internet).

  • Packing boxes, originally I wanted to buy more tubs to pack things in, since our stuff will be in a storage unit for who-knows-how-long.  But the tubs went up in price from $3 to $9!!  Crazy Menard's!  Lower them prices back down!!  Or at least tell me when you have a 60% off sale :)
  • Checklists : :  1 / 2 / 3 / 4
  • Martha Stewart has 10 helpful printouts

If any of you are moving, or planning a move, hopefully those links help you too!

Reddit Secret Santa

Have you heard about Reddit Secret Santa 2011? It is a cyber Secret Santa project. They're going for the Guinness Book of World Records title of The Largest Online Secret Santa Game.

Sign up between November 1st and November 25th (only a few days left!). After the 25th, you will be given your match and you have until December 12th to ship them off a small gift and you'll get one in return.

I'm seriously considering this.  Especially because I'm  somewhat considering this:

And it would help me to mark off something from the list!

So one day an e-mail popped up in my inbox.  And it said something along the lines of, click here to see what your baby will look like.  And it was through the website, The Nest, so I wasn't worried about it being a virus.  And I thought it would be fun!

So I went to the page:

And put in our pictures:

And clicked "show me our baby":

And voila!  If we ever have a kid, this is it:

Ya, it's not bad, but we couldn't figure out if it is a boy or a girl.  So we decided on a name like Rumpelstilskin or something to that effect.

So go here and see what your baby (or next baby?) will look like, and I'd love to see if you care to share!

Tsunami

Here are three pages of really interesting before/after photos of places in Japan.

And then here is a link to a british news coverage.  This video is the best that I personally have seen to show the incredible power and size of the wave taking over the land.  It's sad, but I think it helps to show how devastating this was/is to Japan.  Click Here.

Are you smart enough for a green card?

Here are some questions from the citizenship test.  Take it and let me know how you did.  I did horrible, so thank goodness I was born in the good ole US of A!

Happy Sabbath!

Thought I would share a little link today that, I personally think, shows a little of how amazing God is.
